Deutsche Bank and SUN-DAC: Cultivating Inclusivity Together in Urban Farming
In a heartwarming display of corporate social responsibility, Deutsche Bank joined hands with SUN-DAC Upper Thomson for a collaborative urban farming event on 21st September. Thirteen dedicated staff members enthusiastically embraced the role of volunteers, immersing themselves in the soil and wholeheartedly embracing the task at hand.
Sponsored by Deutsche Bank, the grand opening ceremony marked the launch of the urban farm at Upper Thomson, reaffirming our commitment to a greener and more inclusive future.
The volunteers, many of whom were new to gardening, were expertly guided by our dedicated Training Officers, Humairah and her team, in soil preparation, planting, seeding, and nurturing. They worked shoulder to shoulder with SUN-DAC beneficiaries, sowing not just seeds but also a unique bond into each other’s hearts. As part of the experience, they also learned about our beneficiaries’ challenges and aspirations, aligning perfectly with Deutsche Bank’s mission to enable communities and economies to prosper.
A surprise mini planting session of baby kailan left the volunteers with a green memento to nurture at home, a thoughtful and appreciated gift from SUN-DAC. The day continued with an engaging tour of Upper Thomson, during which some beneficiaries received sensory bags lovingly crafted by the sta volunteers. DB volunteers also had the opportunity to interact with beneficiaries from different classes, further enhancing the sense of inclusivity and community spirit.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Deutsche Bank for spearheading this remarkable initiative, fostering empathy among their team members for our clients’ conditions. This eye-opening experience of connecting with beneficiaries during the planting and farming process will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact, nurturing not only plants but also compassion and understanding.
